GAMIFY your New Year’s Resolution to improve your chances of keeping it up!

GAMIFY your New Year’s Resolution to improve your chances of keeping it up!

Did you know that 80% of us fail our new year’s resolutions by the second week of February (according to a U.S. News & World Report)?

Whether it’s hitting the gym, starting a healthier diet, or reading more books, the majority of us start with the very best intentions, but soon fizzle out as quickly as the New Year’s Eve firework display.

So, we are sure that you want to be in that 20% who meet their goals – and you want to re-energise yourself and get yourself re-motivated before you fall off the wagon.

Gamifying yourself could be the way forward!

Here’s an example for those of you who said you’re going to exercise more this year….

Maybe you are one of the many people who have decided running is the way forward (sorry, terrible pun)

You could try using the app Zombies, Run! It’s a couch to 5k style app that tells you when to walk, jog, run and stretch – but with the addition of a gripping story .. and missions where you are chased by Zombies! During the missions, you are trained to find supplies and protect a fictional town.

Pairing an activity that you don’t like with something that interests you, and gets you invested in doing your activity, is a fantastic way to gamify your running! As you’ll want to find out what happens at the end, you’ll want to run, making it into a habit.

You might even get fit while doing it too!

Are you one of the Dry January crowd? There’s a gamification tool for you too!

The Dry app uses streaks, achievements and badges to help you stay dry for as long as you choose… it doesn’t have to just be for January!

Perhaps your resolution is to get on top of your finances and finally start tracking what you’re spending.

Learn good budgeting habits in a fun environment while building a virtual city with Fortune City – an app that Gamifies bookkeeping and rewards you for daily action.

I’ve picked three of the top most common New Year’s Resolutions to focus on here; fitness, dry January and finances but you can gamify any goals you make (hint, these can both be personal and business goals!)

All of the apps above use gamification tools and techniques to keep you coming back to their apps. More time in their app means more money and brand awareness for them – all while making you healthier and happier.

We love a win-win at Kimba Digital!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these or plan to give them a go, or have your own ways to try and complete your new year’s resolution!
